It would seem that the !!!!!! industry is backing HD-DVD due to cost issues,so you can kiss goodbye to using your nice expensive Sony Playstation 3 as a HD DVD player

I think Sony deserve all that is coming to them at the moment with the way they have been treating their customers at the moment.

Yes indeed I hope they realise that delaying products bad build quality and price hikes really do have a backlash I would like to see them fold.0 -
I think hybrid drives will end up being the norm as in the supposed format wars of dvd +/-/RAM. Hybrid HD-DVD/Blu Ray disks are already being developed. The PS3 is actually very cheap for what you get and is perfectly comparable costwise to the HD DVD players. The REAL costs don't come into it as both the PS3 and Toshiba HD DVD player are heavily subsidised with both manufacturers making a subsantial loss on every unit."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I agree with the point about Sony's Customer Service - they clearly don't care about customer satisfaction and I hope their blu-ray goes down the pan. Hate them

Agreed, Sony have been trading on their name for years now! They always have to do it their way - remember Betamax?

Betamax, perfect example of it having nothing to do with how good the technology is (Blu Ray is superior technologically). I seem to remember that seeing something that what really won it for VHS was the adoption of the !!!!!! industry so maybe history really is repeating itself."She is quite the oddball. Betamax was superior to VHS too wasn't it?0

Superscaper, is bang on the money, by adopting cheap VHS the !!!!!! industry exploded. The !!!!!! industry is responsible for a whole lot of technical innovations, especially on the web, they have the development funds to develop technology and are leaders in web development. So bye bye Blu-Ray0

Yep, that's what I was getting at. Could be blu-ray ends up being the betamax of this format war."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Yes it was, still is as some film studios still use betamax a lot was down to the marketing if the betamax format was better promoted we would all be using betamax tapes and recorders, also down to sonys arrogant ways and they lost out big time.
More info here0 -
!!!!!! were also the first to really pick up DVD and run with it - a lot of the stuff the porno's did with multi-angles in early DVDs still aren't being sorted out by everyone else...0
