I've been working for my current employer for the past 6 years. 3 years ago they offered me Term time hours and I worked 25 hrs per week.
However, our daughter who is now 14, was finally diagnosed with CFS/ME, Eating disorder and needs CB Therapy last year, for which she gets middle rate of DLA and I claim Carer's Allowance.I have had a fair bit of time off work to care for her, each day is different thats for sure.
Anyway, last September my employers said they are needing to change working hours and they were looking into montoring busiest times ( call centre) and change hours accordling. They gave everyone a form to sign, which I didnt sign, as Im really limited to hours of working already. Some of my colleagues signed in fear of losing job, but have said if their hours are changed they'd have to leave.
My hubby works full time and does all the overtime he can, this week he worked 7 days, bless him..we have alot of outgoings, we are watching the pennies as we dont have alot to play with or save.
I called Benefits for advice, should I lose my job..they said called working tax credit, so I did, who then told me to call Benefits line....... Im lost.......
Would I be entitled to anything if this is the case?
Any advice would be grateful , thanks;)

Thanks, if I coudl work different hours I would of signed, I have told them that. My daughter, if and when she can get into school only does a few hours....so not at school all day, I cant work evenings cos of my hubbys job and never getting home same time, depending on where his job or jobs are that day.......plus we have a younger child too.
Wow, 26 weeks is a long time under circumstances that I have. Plus with all the appointments we have to travel to that are up in London, its then finding a job to allow this......I'm kinda stuck..0 -
should you be claiming carers allowance with earning over £100 per week?0

I do claim carers allowance x
I forgot to add, due to my daughthers illness and not in school all day, I have already had to fight with flexi working. Which at first the refused, then changed there minds in December, so new and lowers hours started in Jan 2011, now I work 16 hrs a week. Though they did say, this would be allowed til the new hour changes come in... its taken a year to get here and now rumors are 1st October new hours will start/ be given........... x0 -

They weren't advising you to claim, they were asking if carers are aware of all the money you have.
I (and Lady Gaga, by the looks of it) thought you couldn't claim if you earnt more then £100 per week.0 -
You would have to be on £4 per hour to be getting £100 a week with 25 hours.0

On 16 hrs / pro rata for term time, it works out I take home 76.61..
I didnt start claim carer's allowance til mid January this year, my hours reduced to 16 hrs per week starting at the beginning of January, so I've never claimed when earning over £100 per week when on old hours x0 -
Please dont think im nosey, but do you claim tax credits as well? i recieve higher rate care for my son, work 16hrs a week earning minimum wage.I was told you cannot get carers allowance if you claim tax credits.
Thanks

Hi, Janette. W
When I called tax credits to tell them that our daughter got DLA. As I thought this had to be declared, the lady on the phone advised me I can claim for carer's allowance and that its classed as income, she sent me the form, sowhen I was awarded this I called the tax credits dept to let them know. She also told me about the Disabality part of the tax credits too........ so both of these I knew nothing about.
Within a week she had back dated it to January. However, since the change in tax credit this April, this has been reduced by alot.
My daughter is on the middle rate, and lower rate for mobility x0 -
Thanks for that, i will give tax credits a phone in the morning.
