Virgin--disconection times and fees.

Hello

Been with virgin (broadband only) for many years.

Having been told that my monthly fee is about to rise by £5 to £23.15,I decided to have my service disconnected.

I was told on 9 Sept that the disconnection would be on the 16th
and there would be a disconnection fee of £24.

Although not totally happy about the £24,I was pleased with the date because my last payment covered the period up to Sept 17th.

Today the disconnection date was moved to Sept 19th, which means
they will take an extra payment on Sept 17th.

I suspect that the date was changed for this sole reason.

Don't forget to return your equipment (SACM,STB ect) or they'll charge you up to £240. Ask them to send yo a self adressed Jiffy bag & get a proof of posting.

Thanks for the reply, don't believe I have any equipment belonging to
    Virgin.

Do you think the amount of time for them to disconnect is reasonable?

If you got a cable modem or TV box from VM,then they belong to VM.Unlike Sky you don't own any equipment from VM so it has to be returned.
The disconnection time is OK,bear in mind that it's a physical disconnect in the Mux & Street cabinet.

Are you talking about a Virgin cable connection or Broadband supplied via a BT landline?????

It's going to be Virgin National ADSL which is why there is a disconnect fee. As it is being physically disconnected at the exchange and that is done by BT OpenReach they will be the cause of the date change.

Asking for a MAC and using that to move to a different ISP (assuming broadband is still wanted) would have avoided the disconnect fee but it's too late to change that now.
