VERO.. becareful when listing a dvd/cd

ggrrr. i have just had my listing for bridget jones edge of reason removed by vero.......

even though its mine, bought from tesco +still have the receipt.
i watched the film once and thought it was a bit boring so i decided to put it up on ebay.

apparently they are doing this alot. its to do with the american motion picture association, to do with not be able to pay them loyalties.

so even though you think you own the dvd (even applies to cds`s too). you don`t.
vero can remove your listing whenever they want and ebay don`t reimburse your fees.
but they will let you list all the dvds and cds you like and they don`t even warn you about vero.

there has been a big discussion on this in ebays community boards too.
so beware

vero stands for VERIFIED RIGHTS OWNER......a outfit owned by ebay like paypal etc.

basically because i listed a used dvd it infringes on one of their members trademark. so even though i bought and paid for it. they are telling me i can`t resell it. as it technically doesn`t belong to me.
there has been a lot of dvd`s and cd`s removed from sale because of this and according to ebay message boards it isn`t going down too well.
how can they let us advertise dvds etc without giving a warning the listing can be removed and still charge for listing fees.

and by the way if you try and relist the removed dvd they will suspend your account.
this really peed me off as i have 100% feedback of over 500...........gggrrr

good thing they dont stop books being sold isnt it? what with the clause in the front of nearly all books about not to be resold or reproduced blah, blah, blah.
Next thing you know they'll be suing blockbusters for selling off their used videos and dvds .Libraries do it too.Really I dont see their problem,if you cant buy it second hand legitimately whats to stop you just borrowing from your friend and they still would not get their free money(they already got their 'loyalties' from the initial sale of the DVD).:(

Apparently it does... a friend of mine had some of his Sega console games removed for the same reason... a completely c**p state of affairs if you ask me...
    Nice to save.

So what about places that buy and sell second hand cds, videos and dvds --How can they carry on trading?

with used DVD's e.g. blockbuster, its cos they are selling pre-rented films
they pay a lot more for these rental versions and i presume this gives them the right to sell them on...?

we get to buy them much cheaper as long as we only watch them on our own with a tight pair of shoes and a jumper on... ;)

hurray for the new smileys :j
