See if you can find one reasonably nearby using icheckstock .co.uk

Hello, have you managed to find a printer yet?

I was asking the guy from NI about how much printing he did as Argos didn't have an SX415 and he was getting a printer which uses more expensive compatibles
  • Hi again...I went thru the storechecker as recommended and got this:

  • Argos website is still being crazy! Some pages are working then they won't, can't get into stock checker or add to basket.

This is a silly question (I've never bought a printer before), but do Epson printers normally come with some ink?

Yes, though some printers usually arrive with starter cartridges which have enough ink to let you see it runs properly

If you go for an Epson, check the availability of compatibles as a few of them use expensive compatibles

These would seem to be the best value currently, as most have 19ml of ink. It is usually cheaper to buy sets of ink.

    http://stores.ebay.co.uk/REXTRAS-LTD/Replace-forT0807-Hummingbird-/_i.html?rt=nc&_fsub=1443312014&_sid=859856154&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14&_sop=15&_sc=1

Genuine cartridges can have 6.5 ml of ink, compatibles can have 13ml of ink. Genuine inks have an anti clog agent which some compatibles do not have, so running a nozzle check each week if the printer is not used a lot, will help avoid the heads drying out.

Try to avoid letting it get to a point where you need to run the head cleaning as this uses a lot of ink from all the cartridges, and avoid switching the printer off as it will use an amount of ink whenever it is switched on
  • Thanks :)

I checked the price of compatibles and for the two I'm deciding between (wireless v non) they're quite reasonable. I won't use the printer that often to be honest, probably only a couple times a month, so was planning on having it off/away most of the time.
