Wanted: cheap printer to print coupons etc please :-)

Hi there...:)
I am looking to buy a cheap and simple printer to print off money saving coupons/vouchers etc as more and more companies are using 'CouponStar' and the like and withdrawing for posting out such discounts...I had, until last year, a Lexus printer - all singing, all dancing and about £30 to replace the inks  each time!...I don't need a photo quality one as I use Asda or a freebie offer to print out any photo's I want...
I occasionally print off a standard text document but that's about it in all honesty...
I have seen branded ink refills in places like Poundland and of course there is always ebay...lol...:rotfl:
So, if anyone can recommend a as cheap as possible printer that wont give me any hassle or unnecessary expense I will be full of gratitude

Many thanks for reading and in advance for any help!

Your best bet would be to buy a cheap, but well-known brand, printer and use compatible ink cartridges. If you shop around on the net, you can find real bargains - I have a high quality Epson Photo printer and have been using very cheap, no-name cartridges from 7dayshop.com that worked out at less than £1.50 each and give very satisfactory results.
The printer will then last a reasonable time and there will be plenty of alternative brands of ink cartridges from which to make your selection.
The one point you will need to watch is that these vouchers are usually scanned through a till scanner that searches for a bar code.
If you use cheap ink and cheap paper, the ink will creep along the paper before it dries and the bars will merge in to one another and not be decipherable by the scanner.
To avoid this, use a good quality, branded, ink-jet paper, not cheap photocopy paper.0 -
One option

Compatible inks here, with a refill by post option of £7 for black and £9 for colour, ask them if this applies to XL cartridges, or if you do not do a lot of printing, the ink drying could be a problem and worth printing a page with a mixture of colours each week to prevent it

The inks are listed cheaper on amazon, though watch for delivery charges0 -
Thanks for getting back to me...:T
David39 - do you mean something like this?

I like the price of the cartridges that you mentionedAs for the paper - I have inkjet paper already...
And santer - Wow - cheapand I will be using it a few times a week as I am a regular freebie hunter
so I wont let the ink dry out...lol...
Cheers again...xxx:D

The SX130 has higher running costs because it is one of a handful of printers which do not have cheap compatibles available

The main types are genuine inks and compatible inks, cartridges which have been manufactured by another company, usually at a cheaper price. Compatibles will be alright for the type of printing you intend using the printer for
Genuine inks for the SX 415 are £39 plus a set

Compatible inks for the SX 415 are £3 a set

The SX 130 is cheaper to buy but you will soon spend the saving by having to spend £5 more for each set of comaptibles

I would as it has a better scanner, an LCD screen and can print from memory cards
The HP is £20 with £16 a set for compatibles
The SX 130 is £25 with £8 a set for compatibles
The SX 415 is £34 with £3 a set for compatibles
So, as soon as the inks need replacing with the HP and the SX 130, you will have spent almost as much as getting the SX 415
Although you do not print photos, the SX 415 will do a reasonable job if you ever need to
Using compatibles will be fine as you use the printer frequently, genuine inks have an anti clog agent which some compatibles do not. Genuine inks can have 6.5ml of ink per cartridge, compatibles can have 13ml of ink per cartridge, the ones from Rextras for the SX 415 have 19ml of ink per cartridge
I originally posted the HP printer because I could not see coupons using a lot of ink0 -
