looking for childminder in Luton area...
Options
Hi all,
I am bit new to this site, so not sure where to post this....hope u take it easy...
I am looking for a childminder in Luton (LU1) for my 15mths old baby girl...for part time....say 2 to 3 hrs a day on week days...
Actually I got the list from Children's information centre....but many of the childminders are looking for full time one....so they are not ready to go for part time...that what I am looking for...
I cannot afford to pay full time for childminding....as I am not working....
Can anybody guide me in this matter...? any other affordable options for child care.....??????
Really confused....all ideas are appreciated....
Thanks in advance....

Hello idlesaver
Welcome to the MSE site.
You should get more views and responses in the 'Marriages, Relationships & Families' board, so I'll move it across.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

Have you thought about a nursery? Then you can swap to a childminder if/when you want to work full time.
What are your reasons for only wanting 2-3 hours?
Do you have a local nursery attached to a Children's Centre? This should be a Neighbourhood Nursery that will provide high quality and affordable childcare.0 -

TBH, a childminder would be the best option for the OP as you can pay for the hours that you use the care.
A Nursery will charge for either a full or half day
I returned to work and was recommended to enquire about childminders, I think the website is http://www.childcarelink.gov.uk/index.asp and then phone as many as you can, expect to pay about £3.50 an hour for childcare.
Ask for references and make sure you feel comforatble in their presence and their home. I had an unfortunate time because I needed to find a c/m asap in october and chose one who developed a huge attitude with me and my kids.
Normally you are asked to have a settling in period but go with yur gut feeling when it comes to your child, if your little seems comfy with the new person in her life it will make things so much easier.
You will be able to claim some childcare costs back from Tax Credits so make sure the person you choose is registered with ofsted and check their paperwork.
Blimey just read thru all that and it might seems a bit baffling sorryProud to be me, proud to be who I am!!0 -

The nursery attached to the children's centre where I work has an hourly (or might be two hourly?) breakdown of its fees. The nursery is run by the Pre-School Learning Alliance.0
