Changing halifax online username?

I've had the same halifax username for years, after the changes today it wouldn't let me log in and I had to reset my username, passsword and memorable information and confirm by phone that it was me.

My username is now a big jumble of numbers which I'm going to struggle to learn off by heart. Does anybody know if I'm able to change it? I've tried calling them and they appear to have suspended their call centre advisors for online customers at the moment :(

    Oh for god sake. Just managed to speak to someone and you can't change your username so I'm stuck with a stupid amount of numbers because they screwed up their website. :mad:

    Actually, has anybody sucessfullly changed theirs in the past? I'm going to be calling again in a day or two because I don't believe that they are unable to change them.
  • I know that there was an option to change in the past - when I signed up I had numbers (and still do)

    my parents got something like name6546 when they signed up later

    I use keepass to record the details so don't need to remember them
  • just signed in - username worked ok - but statements etc. missing so seems the system is messed up in a few ways atm even the html is wrong in some places - text over other text/tags like <b> showing etc.

    This is embarrassing. When first registered with Halifax you chose the username - now they do, of course. My friend (who was there) suggested ''put your name and date of birth - something you'll remember''. And it's still there - and I doubt they'll let me change it! Thank goodness that Halifax's multiple level security is keeping me safe, eh?

    Before the Lloyds TSB integration you used to be able to change your username.

    They were, however, correct to tell you that it is no longer possible.

    If anyone has a google account, just upload a word document with your usernames on, then copy and paste when you need them.

    So like in my google docs file I just have;

    Halifax: osdfdsf123324
    Lloyds: 238348234

    So I can just copy and paste the right username for whichever account :)

    You could always use a free product such as Lastpass to store you usernames. However, personally I wouldn't suggest using it to store banking passwords
  • Using the latest version of Excel is a good for storing this information, just make sure you password protect it.
  • I have logged in and it seems alot of old data is missing and also its changed the name of my mastercard to an introductory mastercard instead of a clarity. Very strange.
