Phone Crashed, £50 Single Call on Bill

Hi
I wonder if anyone can help.
My wife has been using an LG Eve GW620 until recently, and finds that it crashes a lot. On one occasion the phone crashed when she hung up on a call to her mum, and she didn't find out until a couple of hours later when she met up with her mum and went to use her phone to call me. She checked with her mum that the call wasn't still open (it wasn't, as my wife's sister had called my mother in law since) so she thought nothing more of it...
...until the bill arrived for almost £80. Obviously this is a lot more than the standard £15 a month that we usually pay, and the problem can be attributed to two much longer than normal calls, one of which comes to over £50 and matches the call described above.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can approach this to achieve a favourable resolution?
I know that the technology exists for this to be resolved, what I want to know is, what chances are there that it will be, and is there a particular avenue I should take as the minimum wagers on the Vodafone phone line have been next to useless.
Many thanks
Christian

I doubt that is the reason as, unlike landlines, either party can clear the call. As the mum had taken another call its very unlikely the charge relates to that call.
What you want to do is query the bill and ask for a network investigation. After thoroughly checking the bill to make sure itsnot a genuine charge.0
