Have a good cry, get it all out of your system - if you've got to the tearful stage, it's better to let it out. Then make yourself a cup of tea/coffee/large G&T, wipe the tears away and keep plodding on.... I've got great faith in your ability to cope with this! Car repairs always seem like a nightmare at the time, but a few weeks down the line, you will have forgotten about them, and will have something else to occupy your mind - hopefully something nicer!
Big (((HUG))) to you xxx"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
my car needed new tyres just before chrimbo first set i bought for them cost me £120 each ..so seeing as it was so close to chrimbo i dreaded paying £360 ( needed three tyres) but nephew told me about scrap yard so i went there and got three brand new tyres for £120 big saving ...do you have a scrappy near you you could try?0

Have you thought about asking for a list of repairs that needs doing and taking it to another garage for a estimate.
Its just a thought.0 -
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I think I'll have to live with it.. I'm working away all week atm and am lucky if I get 2 days a month when I'm home and mechanics are at work... not much time for finding better options!
Getting less upset. Sure a good night's sleep in my own bed will help.Debt free 4th April 2007.

I know the feeling. I was hit for a bill of £350 for my car on the 23rd December. Other than tyres and a couple of MOT's and services, this is all I've had to shell out in 3 years of ownership. Hopefully the timing will be better next time my car needs repaired.
Send the clothes back and the £80 will easily cover a battery and wipers.Emmzi wrote:Garage just called and said also need new wipers and battery in the next 3 months.. so I want them now...0 -
Ok.. back from garage (took them HOURS) and the deed is done. They knocked a bit off when I explained it'd be lidl beans on lidl bread for months...
Have taken penny jar to coinstar (usually wait for full bags to bank but needs must) and managed all groceries needed until after hols and holiday toiletries. Tomorrow will be taking things to PO except ONE pair of *almost fit* lush black trousers with lots of punky zips that I am too old for but will bloddy well have anyway. So have compromised with mysaelf. Then tomorrow afternoon is trying on the old holiday clothes from when i was *really* fat, up in the attic, and seeing what is so elasticated it'll do, and what just need a little bit of seamstressing to work. I figure I only really need 2 trousers and 2 shorts and a cossie, my regular everyday tops and t shirts should do.
So less depressed. I feel better knowing my car is all safe now, than waiting until I had a bit more in the bank.
Am off to mates in a bit to watch Lost DVDs and eat popcorn (also off coinstar) instead of going out for porky expensive meal. And here was me thinking (hoping) the belt tightening was almost over now I have a real job again...
You guys are fab at support and nagging
Think the next costs will be new letterbox cos it sounds like the wind is gonna have this one off! Might have to tape it!!Debt free 4th April 2007.

Dreeeeam, dream, dream, dream......only kidding. Bloody cars are a nightmare. Buy brand new and shell out several thousands - buy 2nd hand and you could end forking out hand over fist month after month. Ive learned to really investigate car history on the internet and dont impulse buy because it looks good and youve got your heart set on it.....Emmzi wrote:Bah! Just had call from MOT centre and car needs 2new tyres and some other gizmo that £60..service + MOT + repairs about £400!!!!
