New Year Skintness!

Bah! Just had call from MOT centre and car needs 2new tyres and some other gizmo that £60..service + MOT + repairs about £400!!!!

Oh well. It hasn't needed much done before, Iknew the tyres would need done soon, and it's less than £35 a month if I average it..much cheaper than a new car... These days with insurance, petrol and tax included, I think my car's about £110 a month to run, even with today's bill..

My bargain holiday clothes, which arrived in the post today, however, upset me more. They are all a size too small!! (The label says my size, the seams don't!)

I know I haven't got bigger, cos all my other clothes still fit! (and trust me they ain't stretchy lycra!)

Do I send them back and endure the pain of the useless customer service department, or keep and diet? (I am dieting anyway. I reckon they are 12 to14 pounds off fitting. With holiday in a week, that won't happen!)

I got 5 pairs trousers, 5 tops, a nightie, 2 dresses and loads of knickers for £80...it's all good clobber... but no bargain if it *never* fits... dilemas...

  • Hi Emmzi
If I was you I would send the clothes back, I know from experience that if you keep clothes that don't fit hoping to get into them after dieting then they end up sitting in a cupboard...its more fun to choose new clothes after losing weight! It sounds as though you got a good deal though!

    Enjoy your holiday....

  • Hi Emmzy,
Poor you having all the car expenses this month of all months. I´ve just had to have new tyres and pay car insurance this month and really wish I didn´t need a car, but unfortunately i do because it would take me hour to get to work without a car.
As for the clothes, send them back. £80 is a lot of money to just have sitting in your cupboard until you lose weight and could go towards the car repairs.

where did you get the clothes from, will you make more by selling them on ebay- if they were that much of a bargain?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Hmm, could ebay them...La Redoute sale... have just checked their website and their sizes on tops ok, on bottoms 2 inches smaller than I am used to at Next!!!

I hear such bad things about their customer service, I am reluctant to engage.. might just be because I'm feeling fat and blimpy and tired!!!

£80 is a lot though... and it'd be 2 months min. until I could wear most of it..*sigh*...

I'm not a very motivated MSE today!!! The lazy demon is in my head..

Sorry you're having a bad day Emmzi, keep your chin up and look forward to that holiday! Are you going anywhere nice?

I would send the clothes back if they don't fit (could you re-order some in a bigger size? I know it's never nice to have to buy the next size up - especially when you haven't even put on weight - but if it means you get some cheap stuff for your holiday it might be worth doing, if it would still arrive before you go).

I am going to try and get discount from garage, possibly by crying :D or being cheeky.

Perhaps you could just have a try with the customer service...stand up whilst making the call (apparantly it helps you be more assertive) and look upon it as a challenge to be the person who 'breaks' the customer service :D

I don't actually mean you make them cry or anything...I mean the person who gets success out of them btw.
