She has had school observation with psychiatrist (he did it when she was in fave lesson, and as soon as it was the next lesson which was Maths, she caused a lot of trouble, I ended up having to come collect her early).

Many teacher reports, Her head of year from last year supported us tremendously.

She seen patrician when she was 8/9 due to puberty at age 6, he knew there was something going on, after many tests, he referred her to a psychiatrist, she seen her once for 20 mins, and told me there was nothing wrong with her (this was done before we moved to England).

He has taken family history, he has my records noted down from what my GP has sent, as well as DD, and HV reports.

I have also filled in many question air's as well as the school getting fed up of answering the same questions to be honest.

Have tried the reward chart, praising when good, ignoring when bad, Can't ignore her it makes her worse, she ends up screaming out the window she is being abused, Or will just pick on DD2, who ends up shaking with fear. (hence needing respite, but ss won't help).

:( A long and exhausting few years for you then x

Am going to grab any help We get, just the medication route I am concerned about. DD knows to much about things, she keeps saying when ever she has an energy drink (can't believe these are sold to kids) she calms down, where an earth did she get this info from? A friend from school I think. She is also showing signs of OCD, BUT I never once mentioned this or she will be in the school library.

The only thing she is amazing at is art, she can copy a photograph like it was done by a famous person. She is very creative, she also dresses her own way, adding things to her clothes, have done since age 6, I mentioned all this to psychiatrist too.

Thank you, nice to know we are not alone :) xx

Where does she get the money to buy energy drinks?

The amount of crap in those is disgusting, I nag my OH stupid when he drinks them, so much so he doesn't have them any more.

She had a major outburst Friday when I caught her stirring, She really did believe this girl was with her Thursday night using her phone causing trouble, But this girl wasn't here, because DD was home, and she went mental,

THIS is the bit that concerns me, darlyd.

What I think you're saying is that your child believes that someone else spent Thursday evening with her, but actually your daughter was home alone? Ie, she was either hallucinating, or her mind was creating another world around her. Is that what you're saying?

I've read a lot of your posts about your daughter - and I agree that if what you say is literally what happens in your home, it doesn't sound like ADHD, nor does it sound like bad behaviour, nor is it caused by crap in energy drinks.

You've posted before about your own psychiatric history, and that of your mother's which - although I have little knowledge of psychiatric conditions - I am aware can be hereditary to some degree.

Is there any way that you can get your daughter to a hospital when she has an outburst founded on some 'hallucinatory' episode? Or to a doctor for a psych referral? I don't know how it all works, I'm afraid, but I'd be insisting on looking at something more associated with these sorts of worrying symptoms rather than her poor behaviour.

I wish I could advise or comment better, but I don't know enough. But I do wish you all the best.

I know with adults there is the crisis team or in the case of psychosis the early intervention team, is there anything like this in place under CAMHS for when she has a serious outburst? Sounds like you need to be given as much support to help her as possible

"she only changes when she is told no, and we tell her she has done wrong. And when we catch her out"
Sorry - but throwing a tantrum on being told NO doesnt sound to me like a mental health disorder, a troubled teen more like. (thinks of recent supernanny episodes)

But probably best to get the professionals psych involved as they're more specialist than the GP. Or even try family counselling as well?

    Thanks guys, It's so frustrating.

When she was having an outburst on Friday evening, I rung the number I had for the psychiatrist who we saw the day before, And the answer phone came on to leave a message no forwarding number :(. So I rung Social Services who told me to call the police, geez I ask you, I then called my own GP who said it's not easy with children when they having these types of tantrums (I swear she thought she was just having a normal child tantrum), She said see how she is over the rest of the eve/weekend and if worse then to call out of hours and they will get me to take her down for an assessment and perhaps a referral. In a letter I read from when we were first seen by 2 CAHMS nurses they mentioned in it she has "Oppositional defiant disorder", The psychiatrist told me this is one of the symptoms for ADHD.

When I was growing up I had an imaginary family/friends until I was 18 when I had DD1, I also heard voices as I was going to sleep, and during sleep that would wake me up, I would also go to bed with socks on my arms for fear of something bad happening to me if I didn't. DD1 when she did something bad told me she felt weird and the voices told her to do it, She also got so bad she wanted to end her life, she would get a knife to DD2 as she wanted her to die first, so much more, I mentioned this all to the first psychiatrist she saw when she was 8/9, the one who told me after 20 mins with her that there is nothing wrong with her, and offered me parenting classes, I tell you.. And sick and tired of hearing these remarks like it's all my fault.

When we go to see the psychiatrist on 6th October I will see him on my own too, to mainly give my taking on things, I will mention the above and the believes she has without her there, because I worry she may play on it. I did ask him could she have BP2 like me but he shook his head and looked at me as if I was crazy.

darlyd - she has an INITIAL diagnosis! she is going back to the pyschiatrist for further tests so I very much doubt that she would be given medication yet!
er - and yes she could well have ADHD - it may also be its complicated with ODD or even bipolar! or a dozen other things! The main thing is - that the medical profession are investigating!
as for people not taking you seriously about how bad the meltdowns are - I suggest you film one or two - do you have a camera phone? or suchlike? my dd filmed one of her dds tantrums and it certainly made her gp take it seriously!

Oppositional defiant disorder is also known as bad behaviour - and you were offered parenting classes but turned them down because?
