Recycling mobile phone

Hi

I have a Nokia 5800 sitting in a drawer which I need to get some cash for ideally. There seem to be a lot of places online offering cash for phones, how can I tell which are the more reputable ones? Has anyone used such a service and can you recommend a company?

Thanks in advance
Abi

  • Read all the threads - there will be a hundred different answers (and warnings). I mainly use Cex - sent one off to them last week. Generally they offer the best on-line prices and do pay what they say (though others have encountered more problems with them than I have).

I've used Envirophone on 3 occasions and have been very pleased with their service.

Last time around I went in via Quidco (getting an extra £1 for the effort) and requested payment to my Paypal account rather than cheque. I sent the phone recorded delivery and got an email the next day to confirm receipt and another a few days later confirming phone was ok and payment was on its way. A few days later I got a message from Paypal advising funds had arrived.

Alternative is to request Argos vouchers and get an extra 10% but I don't know how long it would take to get the money that way.

There is a MSE article on recycling handsets and a series of official threads discussing each company.

I have used Mazuma twice and have nothing but praise for them.
