Would you not mind staying in a hostel? We have been to dublin twice, staying in hostels, and we liked Barnacles - it was right on the temple bar so you can fall out of the pub into the hostel.

depends - you can hire a dormitory which you share with other people (strangers) but your stuff is not safe - its mainly for back packers who are on a very small budget. You will find that the more people you share a room with, the more cheaper the room.

We stayed in a twin room, it was en-suite, and you had your own keycard so your stuff was safe - I think they had safe facilities but it was about 3 years ago so cant remember, but you can ring them and find out. The room was small, with bunk beds but clean. I have recommended it to two other friends who found it great, especially the location of it.

It was just like a b&b (we were never up early enough for breakfast) but is full of back packers - it is very very basic, but its a cheap roof over your head.

I stayed here a few yrs ago http://www.durban-house.com/

Cheap and cheerful - No frills, but v. clean! is on Lower Gardiner St, was very handy for the bus/train and pretty central for sight seeing.. Have parking facilities which is useful..
