Weird message on Nokia mobile
I've had my current Nokia mobile about 6 months and started to get a strange message over the last few days.
Every time I do anything (make/receive a call or text etc), I get a prompt:
Allow SIM card to send a message?
I've rung the network provider (TMobile) who say this is a known problem with this model and I just have to live with it.
They advised just replying 'no' every time it appears.
They say I can have a replacement phone (same model) but I could get the same problem again.
I think the mobile might have a virus - am I being fobbed off? Should I worry about it?
I know I can change the message alert to suppress the info being displayed on the screen - but this means a message could be sent automatically without me knwoing about it. (And it could use up my text allowance).
Anyone else had a similar problem?

What Nokia model is it ? I'm sure I used to get this on my N70 when I selected things like lottery results/news in the sim services menu.0

Sorry - should have said that it's a Nokia 6021
I have never subscribed to any SIM services or news wires, footie results etc0 -
i have seen this quite alot on all sorts of mobile phones on the tmobile network but i think it is something that needs to be lived with.
if you say yes is it charging you for the message?
i have always though that this could be tmobiles way of you accepting an update0 -
I haven't said yes, as I didn't know what I was saying yes to - could be a premium rate.
Tmobile told me that it makes no difference whether I say yes or no, but I can't say that I believe them.0 -
Seems like that you have a couple of msgs sitting in your outbox?
Also, it could be T-Mobile is trying to send a service message. Surely your SIM will not request to send a premium message. And yes, this problem only seem to happen with T-Mobile0 -
Hi Edda.
This is neither a problem or a virus or anything else untowards, you'll be relieved to here. Its just an irritating setting on the Nokia menu that i came across myself sometime ago & with no help at all from Orange, managed to stumble across the solution. Right here goes:
First go to "Settings" in your menu
Now go to "Phone"
Scroll down until you come to a menu called "Confirm sim service actions"
Click on this & make sure its set to "NO"
This should now stop the irritating pop up messages.0 -
Thank you for all your help on this so far.
I've checked and there are no message in my outbox.
I did wonder about turning the 'confirm SIM actions' off - but was worried that then messages will be sent out without me knowing about them?0
