Red water

I have noticed now that after a few weeks my bath mat has got Red patches underneath it. I also noticed down my toilet that after a few weeks of use there is Red streaks were the water flushes. Also were water has had the chance to gather around the bath it is leaving a Red sediment. I have also noticed sometimes that when making cold soft drinks after running the tap and filling my cordial, a White scum appears on the surface of the drink. It looks almost the residue left behind after beer has been in a glass (which it isn't).

Anyone any ideas before I approach United Utilities

Have your neighbours got the same problem ?

If not sounds like your plumbing, could it be rust ?

Could be red worms? Can't remember their proper name but can be a contaminant.
I wouldn't be holding back from contacting the water authority that supply you.
