problems with BBC (TV) channels

Do you have a tv distribution point in the loft as you have more than one tv running off one aerial? If you do, trace which point is for your daughters room, unplug the aerial lead from it, plug in a long aerial lead that you know to be OK, run that to your daughters tv (now standing under the hatch!) and try it like that. If it is OK then it is most likely the connections on either or both ends of the cable, if not then try another socket on the distribution point.
If you do not have a distribution point, do you know how the cables are run? Is your daughter's one is somehow run from the one downstairs. If so then the signal may well be degraded and a booster might do the job. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
I think this is a retuning problem. I have 1 TV a Sony & just had to retune it. We live in a valley & there are some reception issues. Any how I retuned this weekend (FULL retune) & ended up with no BBC 1 or 2. All other channels were OK. I live in the East Midlands but previously have had to get the West Midlands signal. So i manually selected the West Midlands transmitter on the menu & everthing worked just fine.Nice to save.0

If the pictures OK when the OP takes the TV downstairs but not upstairs, then it's not a retuning problem.
How does the cable run from the aerial? Straight to the TV's or thru a distribution box?..
If it's straight from the aerial to the affected TV then it's more likely the cable is the problem, especially if it's cheapo stuff.0 -
Also where do you live and are you watching through digital?
My parents use built in freeview (as does my Grandmother) and they were both warned that if they didn't retune all of their TVs on a certain day (I think last friday) then the digital switchover would mean interrupted viewing/problem with BBC channels.
This was apparently due to the digital switch over in the midlands?
Didn't impact on me though so can't be sure.
More info is available here: http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/when_do_i_switch - it seems to confirm loss of function if not using Sky/Cable."We can all fly as high as the dreams we dare to live...........unless we are a chicken" ~ Anon.0 -
The re-allocation of TV channels to multiplex channels is a problem during the digital changeover but I don't think this applies here.
The OP's daughter's TV does not work upstairs but it does work downstairs without any re-tuning happening on the way from one site to the other.
This suggests only two possibilities to me. Either the upstairs aerial lead or aerial socket has a problem or the TV works downstairs because the test was carried out with fewer TV's connected to the system.
The upstairs aerial lead (if faulty) can only be a dry joint since a short would presumably affect all TV's in the house. The upstairs aerial plug may not have been soldered. This is a convenient method of connection but does cost in terms of signal strength.
A better system could be indicated. A signal amplifier with enough outlets for each TV in the house to have its own feed. It's not my fault your honour, they made me do it.0
