If you are a member of a trade union they may be able to help.

Mine (amicus) has a free service for members
  • ::)Try this site. http://www.calibreshopping.co.uk/acatalog/software_special-interest_will-creation.html. It has three Will formats @ £9.99 each. Depends on how complicated you want to be. ;)

but does anyone know how the 'holding' of the will works? do I have to pay someone to look after it or can I tuck it under my mattress ???

MoreThan (Royal and sun Alliance) has a desktop legal document webbsite for customers. This includes will writting. It is operated by a third party company. It is free. It also provides other added value services.

If you are on benefits you may be able to get a will written by a solicitor for free.

Some charities offer a free will writting service, however, I guess they would like you to include their charity in your will.

It is important that if your estate is likely to be subject to inheritance tax that you take proper advise. It is unlikely that a will form will provide this. THe Inland revenue will take 40% of an estate which qualilfies for IHT. Some steps taken now can reduce the liability later.
