Thanks for your help guys I tried both the above link which managed to recover some of the photos from both of the losses.
Recuva found nothing, not even the photos that I could get off the card.
Any other suggestions please guys?

I downloaded this but does anyone know how I get it to work? The files are just in a document folder?
Thanks.0 -
For a 32 bit Windows machine, I downloaded this,
http://www.cgsecurity.org/testdisk-6.13-WIP.win.zip (Direct Download Link)
From here
http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Download
Unzipped it, click to open the folder, (twice), then you should see photo rec as a 1.6MB application, right click it, click run as administrator or open0 -

Mangaed to run it thanks. It was implying it was saving found photos to another part of the card but there is no extra photos on the card from what I had previously saved.
Anyone have any other ideas please? Thanks.0 -

I think that you may have been "bitten", and this time you are unlucky.
In the future always use decent storage memory - Sandisk or Lexar for instance.
If you cut corners on this sort of thing you will lose memories which you can never replace.0
