Shocking comment by Orange Sales
Im in shock!
I saw a post here about the cheap pay as you go phones on the Orange website and decided to buy 3.
A few days later, my order was declined and I was told that Orange cant tell me why. Again, I noticed some deals and when I ordered using a different card, I got the same prob even though I have purchased many phones off them in the past.
Today I phoned cust services to find out when my phones would be coming and the chap on the phone said:
"Can I ask you why you are buying so many phones off us?"
Me: "Im sorry? Is that a problem?" - sounds rude but i was polite (Honest!)
Him: "Err YES it could be - you have had a lot of phones sent to this address"
Me: "Why is it a problem I dont understand?"
Him: No reply
Him: "Im sorry your latest order has been declined I cant tell you why"
Can they do this to me? When has a shop ever questioned a buyer about the reason for their purchase? If this was allowed, I should never be allowed back into Tescos cos the amount of bread, eggs and milk Ive purchased over the years is insane!
I really cant understand this and am really annoyed as it appears Orange have banned me from buying their phones.
Can anyone with inside knowledge about this advise me? I have emailed them 2day but dont expect a reply (again).

If they don't want to sell to you they don't have to. It's their loss!0

If I were you - I'd ask to talk to their supervisor, get their name and tell them that if they won't tell you you will just put a Data Protection request into them and a complaint about the sales guy and supervisor.
They must suspect you are buying the phones and then selling on at a profit - but I can't see any problem with that? (Probably the phones are subsidised by Orange JustTalk and they're losing money on each sale).Total for 2009: L'Oreal Lip Duo, Diary, Motability Guide
Thanks to everyone who post comps - you are all :cool2:0 -
I'd imagine they assume you are a dealer if you are buying a lot and they have different terms and conditions(and probably prices) for sales to dealers/resellers
(and you'll also find that Tesco operate bulk buy policies too to prevent similar stuff)
sounds like best bet is ringing them and asking if they would allow you to buy if you set up as a dealer maybe if you intend buying more in future0 -

Join the club. I had an email declining my order. I've also been banned by Virgin Mobile from ordering any phones, on their website, in the future. Best to get a friend at a different address to put in an order for you.0 -
yea they can decline your orders all day long
alot of people buy the phones, unlock them and dont even use orange!
Orange loose alot of money from this in subsidies which they put on the handset cost
Most retailers also have a 2 per person general rule to thumb as wellif i had known then what i know now0 -
How many phones could you need?0

Tescos have a sign up in my local store limiting you purchasing two mobile phones. How do they police this. Do you have to give ID everytime you buy a phone in the store and they then record the details?

Of course they can refuse to sell the phones to you! Only if they entered into a contract and did not supply would you have a claim in law.
Their advert is an 'Invitation to Treat'. You then make an offer to buy. It is then up to Orange to accept that offer or not. If they don't accept that offer to buy there is no contract and you have no comeback. Full stop!0
