Taken from a Singapore airport site, it seems you may be right Bob.The airport lounges at Terminal 1 are all on the second level, and are all of pretty good quality. For smokers though there are comfortable smoking lounges which allow you to puff away legally. The smoking rooms are both internal and external, allowing you get a suntan if you like while breathing in airplane fuel, instead of just nicotine. There is only one smoking room, although it is very large in each terminal, and they are situated pretty much straight in the middle and against the airport side wall. As mentioned you can sit and smoke outside and inside, but there is always pretty much enough room, either way.0 -

Sounds delightful but I was referring to their customs regulations in regard to Duty/Tax Free allowances.0 -

Yes realised that after I had posted, seems strange that you cant take any cigs into Singapore, which would suggest they are imposing a hard line with smoking, then they provide what sounds like a nice smoking area. Or maybe they are just protecting their own market.0 -

No they are just trying to discourage people from smoking.0 -

Having a large indoor/outdoor smoking room is a radical way of discouraging smoking, I wish our authorities were so forward thinking!!
Back to the main topic, we went over to Belgium yesterday, the first shop with the big car park had giant posters either side of the front door showing the new "Guidelines" of 800 cigs and 1kg of baccy, wish I had taken a photo of them, as it did state that you can still bring back more if you can convince UKBA staff that the goods are for your own use, or gifts etc.
There was a large "customs" presence at Dover, 4 doing the initial stops and around 10-12 waiting in the "shed". Also 2 Policemen stood watching the traffic. The usual interest was shown in any vans going through, the one in front of us was sent to the "shed" but we were waved straight through.0 -

If you dont mind me asking how much were the smokes a sleeve ?
Did you notice if they had Rothmans or Dunhill where you purchased your stock ?0 -
I know its monday morning and a bit too early for my brain to function but your actually allowed 3200 cigarettes from spain? What is the 200 limit then?0
-
200 is usually non EU countries. So you can buy 1000 cigs for 28p and a half chewed sweet but you can only bring 200 back.0

Link to a popular shop in Adinkerke, the price in €s is fixed across Belgium and is printed on the packet. The sterling price can vary as each shop sets it's own £/€ rate but it won't vary much, if any. Baccy is the best value at £4.40/50g of Amber Leaf.0
