JD Sports - Advice on Returning Faulty Trainers

Looking for some advice. Bought my son a pair of Lacoste black hi-tops on 30 July from JD Sports for starting back school on 17 August. He has been wearing them fro 3 weeks and the sole at the heels has wore down so much that it's through to white rubber and then through another layer - I think they would even let in water. I have my receipt. Took them back to the store today and they said they would have to send them away for inspection to their head office as they have had no reported faults with this type of shoe? I thought I would've been offered a refund or exchange. They were his school shoes so he will now have to wear something else not suitable for school until this is sorted (or not). I also have a strange feeling that they will try to put in down to wear and tear but the rest of the shoe is in new condition! 5 of his friends also have the exact same shoe and every one of them has the same problem. Only 1 person had the receipt and they got a full refund from another JD store but the other people didn't get anywhere as they didn't have receipts !!

sounds like they are not fit for purpose. I think its reasonable to expect a pair of shoes to last more than 3 weeks.
the onus on JD sports to prove otherwise, not you.0 -
Thanks - I did say to them that they are not fit for purpose but he said they would have to send them away for inspection ??? I don't know how they can't see as the rest of the shoes are in perfect condition!0

The big problem is that JD Sports do not do returns / faulty goods so you will have an uphill struggle to get anywhere.0

yeah I have that feeling - will see what happens next week - i really don't know if they are within their rights to send them away to their Head Office or if I should've been offered an exchange or refund at the store. They are most certainly not fit for purpose !0

Lacoste Hi-tops? What??!!! Something not suitable for school. Maybe Uggs are a part of the school uniform these days also.
Aren't Lacoste a fashion shoe? Not for everyday wear?My farts hospitalize small children0 -
These are black hi-tops and have no other colour in them and the school are strict about shoes being all black. He has only worn them for 15 days and is not hard on his shoes - not acceptable ! He has Nike hi-tops but can't wear them to school because of the colours and they are in PERFECT condition at 6 months old (he has several pairs of these!). Point is - all the kids - about 5/6 of them have exactly the same problem with the Lacoste hi-tops0
