For those interested I have recieved a email from Karcher and after describing my problem they say 'if the unit is making a buzzing noise this indicates the capacitor has failed within the on/off switch' .

    So we shall see :0)

The capacitor finally showed up (they didnt have it in stock and had to source one) I have fitted it and just tried out the pressure washer...and its still not working..just getting the buzzing noise and after a little while it turns itself off. So really not got any futher with getting it working. I ran water though to get and air pockets out..then I ran it using the pressure gun and the motor didn't kick in at all !

    any thoughts now anyone ?

If you need a pressure washer I would just buy a cheapie from a convenient store , keep the receipt safe and if it lasts more than a year it's a bonus.
Trying to fix 1500psi domestic kit is like spitting into the wind.

Have you been running the PW on extension leads as it kills capacitors if the leads are not of a high enough quality?

Never heard of this one before. Do you have a source for this?

I find it highly unlikely that any component in a portable pressure washer can be damaged by an extension lead. 99 times out of 100 a pressure washer will be used on the drive with an extension lead.

Not saying you are wrong, just curious :)
