T-Mobile Unlimited Internet or Not

To quote myself from my topic in regards to customisable contracts and T-Mobile/Three services (genuine reply):thezeronumber wrote: »"
, once you've purchased the plan you wish to order, for example the Samsung Galaxy S2, part of the price plan gives you unlimited internet. This has no fair use policy and the speeds are capped at 1024 kb for downloading and 512 kb for uploading. The speed is as almost the same with the HSDPA speed which gives an average speed of 1350 kbit/s. However, this speed is capped with 500 MB fair use policy.
If you wish to place an order, you may visit our website by clicking here or your nearest T-Mobile shop.
Thanks again for your email
. I hope I was able to answer your query"
Basically, order a £25+ per month Contract directly with T-Mobile before September 30th and there is no fair use policy. I am not sure if this covers the removal of restrictions on internet calls and tethering but i know it means you have no download or streaming limits at all.
As you can see, they have stated your speeds will be capped at 1mbps and that seems to be a common thing with T-Mobile; Three and pretty much every other company out there won't cap speeds. If you spend less than £25 per month or somehow choose not to go with truly-unlimited then the speed cap is a little better and you get roughly 1.3mbps but you are restricted by the fair use policy in that you can stream up to 500mb and browse something like 3-5gb.
In response to an earlier post, they actually do mention the restrictions on VOIP/internet calls amongst other things in both their fair use policy and terms and conditions. I should know as i looked at them two days ago!
Hope i helped.0 -
Where did you find that information in your quote?
I reckon that is new as it's not in the terms and conditions I saved when ordering my contract a few months ago.
My speeds were 1.86Mbps. Now there seems to be a new network showing on my phone as T-mobile 3G and my speeds are stuck at 0.95Mbps.0 -
Ah ok. Thanks, missed that.
I'm furious with them. No where do they state on the website or terms that will cap your speed, or what to. The other networks don't do this.
I could just about handle the 1.8 cap, but 0.9 is just pathetic, too slow for video on the move, which makes the whole unlimited data with no FUP contract just pointless for me.0 -
I was oblivious to the idea of speed-capping myself until someone mentioned it to me, so i decided to follow it up and got that response from T-Mobile. Looking back, i should of been thinking about it in the first place so i am grateful someone brought the subject up as i could of forgotten about it and gone with their contract.
It's one of those things where 'if you don't ask then you never know'. Could be they are not obliged to put it in their T&C or FUP and so they simply don't as they know it might deter potential buyers. If that is actually the case then it's pretty cheap of them to do it, but then again they are there to make money and if they can get away without mentioning it... Yeah.
Such things are making me consider Three once more, despite it being £35 a month and having thousands of Texts and Calls i will only be using a mere fraction of. A bit of an oxymoron but you've got to pay to feel (internet) freedom on a contract.0
