So I all I need to set up 2 computers and be NON wireless
is make sure new computer recieves ethernet cable and a wireless router and then turn off the wireless option .
Is this correct ?0 -
If you get a wireless router from aol. The ones i have seen only have 1 ethernet port.
To joffy. Yes if you get a router(doesnt even have to be a wireless one you can get these cheap. Try ebay out for new ones) and both pc's have ethernet ports. Connect them up. If the pc your buy does not have ethernet. A pci card which is easy to fit can be about £5.Things that are free in life are great, well most of the time :beer:0 -
Unless you plan to expanding into wireless in the next 12mths then I'd stick with a non-wireless router (wireless routers are 4x the cost of non-wireless)
You should go for as a minimum a 4 port ADSL Router, Ebuyer have one 5 port (allows 5 PC's to be connected) for £17.01 (plus postage).
ADSL Routers

ADSL Wireless Routers (make sure the specs say ADSL)

Following link will help you set it up http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/AOLsetup.htm
For the second PC if the use will be office/internet then a Dell will be more than upto the task - all dells should have ethernet as standard, only thing to make sure is that the model you'll buyings video output supports what your spare monitor supports. Although it'll be worth waiting till Feb before buying so you can get one with Vista installed0 -
