You may be on to something. Could this be a way of getting around VAT by calling a maintenance/service charge something else like a sinking fund or ground rent?

OK, for one final time, I will say this again folks  - the £100/mth is officially called 'ground rent'. The building maintenance charge is additional to this. Then there is stamp duty (next year as paid for first year - property is valued at £140K therefore SD appliciable), council tax and all the other costs. The ground rent (with its 'we can charge what we want after 12 mths at £99/mth for the first year) was too OTT.

    Cheers all
