Streaming normally doesnt involve any uploading at all. The main exception is where you are using a P2P applicaton to watch the movie/soccer match etc

Good posts here peeps. But the above is the most interesting for my purposes as it states it is not a criminal offense. So, if true, then downloading and/or streaming is not illegal but is instead akin to breach of contract ie civil law not criminal law. Not worded brilliantly by me but you hopefully get the gist of the question.

Fair question. I don't know. Looks like no one else does. Probably it isn't illegal but they have the right to sue for breach of their copyright (civil matter) and would use firms 'like' ACS Law or whoever evolves from the sludge to replace them, to sue.
