Orange Broadband Misery

Hi Guys,
Last month, 15th August to be precise my Orange broadband router failed for the 3rd time leaving me with no internet. I called them straight away, they determined it was bust as I had worked out and said a new one would be out to me in 3-5 days. I have had nothing.
I have emailed and emailed as well as called. When I call I am put through to different departments in India who tell me the modem is on the way.
I got so fed up that last week I went down to the local shops and bought my own modem. I have emailed and sent a letter to orange to say I want to pull out of the contract as I feel I have been really let down by them. I also expect them to pay for my modem as I have tried in vain so many times since the 15th to get this problem sorted and I have just had nothing back from them.
I am literally in disbelief that they have still not delivered the replacement or made any return contact.
The effect this has had on my home life, and more importantly sourcing a job is huge and I have included in my last letter to them that I expect compensation for this.
Do you think I should be asking for compensation and is there anything else I can do? I am literally getting nothing from them. I am passed from person to person. When I email, I am told to try a different address, then try another as that address does not deal with my query. I have even tried the Executive Office and they refuse to get involved saying I will get a quicker response if I send a letter to customer services. Have sent one letter already. Do I just need to be more patient?
