They did seem a lovely family, and i really hope they did/do pay off their mortgage, but it seemed to me that although on paper they had done it, in reality they hadnt, as the chap was behind with building his hotpods, so unless he actually caught/catches up, then he wouldnt really have that money!!!!

I've never eaten elderflower fritters but I do make elderflower champagne and it's absolutely delicious.

I found the programme inspiring. What they had to do to turn their fortunes around was to get more belief in themselves and take themselves seriously, not change anything about what they actually did or how they lived. It's a lesson I need to learn myself.

I agree it was fudged - as well as tax they must have had lots of costs producing all those signs, t-shirts etc, travel and accomm for their selling trips. And where did the £180/week they were living on come from when all their earnings from stoves and yoga apparently went into the mortgage pot?

But these are quibbles when the overall message was so inspiring.

Elderflower fritters might be really really nice so maybe it was no hardship.. kids seemed excited enough to be having them...has anyone here tried them?

Yes they are really nice, especially with some syrup or honey on top, i love their mode of transport to the pub:beer: wicked.
So if you were to need blackberries would you pick them or buy them if you had a berrry bush not so far away??
  • I only had my lightbulb moment this week but that combined with big dicussions with my husband, all the lovely people and advice on this forum and last night's tv prog. has given the kick up the backside I really need.

I thought they were a lovely family and it brought tears to my eyes.

Shame I don't have any untapped talents I can think of, then I could have cleared the debt in a year and the mortgage in the following 2. Oh well, I don't mind if it takes a bit longer, as long as we get there.
Proud to be dealing with my debts

It was a 'surfer dude' family living in St Ives. The Dad made woodburners called 'HotPod's.

The mum is big in to yoga and they had two young lads.
