I had an A&L account for the incentive and for free travel insurance. Closed that after a year or so, and three months later opened Santander for £100 plus £45 Quidco (Topcashback is more) - but you can also get 5% on savings held in the account under £2500. Now just opened the First Direct for £100 incentive (missed the £25 extra via moneysupermarket. com), and plan to keep it for the year to get 8% on the Regular Savings, plus open cash ISA for 7% (so 7% net). On both the max monthly saving is £300, unless you haven't paid in the full amount in a previous month.

My tip is to keep a 'spare' bank account with a couple of easily-managed direct debits on for switching purposes.

I now have 4 bank accounts not including my Egg credit card which I use for daily purchases, and my South African bank account. And I will go for the Halifax one when I've had a little rest!

Has anyone ever received the £100 for leaving? I'm not banking (sorry) on applying or getting it.
