Add chopped spring onions to mash and freeze.:)
Champ - my favourite with a big blob of butter in the middle!! - also try Colcannon (minus bacon if your veggie) http://www.lovepotatoes.co.uk/recipes/light-bites/colcannon-mash/
only one recipe example if you google there are lots of variations.0 -

Tip: if you like jacket potatoes. Store the larger ones and you can and use the small ones for mash.
I would definitely make my own chips and freeze them!
Parboil portions of potatoes and then freeze and you can then use them in casseroles (veggie ones of course)0 -
I'm not confident in my ability to store them! All my beetroot went rotten last year despite keeping it dry. Or so I thought !
I've found the best way to store them is in a dark, cool [not cold] place, in the fruit boxes that supermarkets recycle, with newspaper on the bottom, a layer of potatoes, a layer of newspaper, another layer of potatoes and a top layer of thick newspaper.
Or in the potato bags, you can get them from chip shops; just make sure that no slugged or sliced ones are put in there. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

Fantastic! Thank you! And your advice comes in the nick of time....I was just about to start boxing them up today! I was just going to shove them in a box....that's obviously where I've gone wrong.0 -

jennyp we've grown both beetroot and potatoes for years and we've never stored beetrooot successfully, but potatoes are different. We've got some thick brown paper sacks and we keep them in the garage in the dark. Not near the car engine which can be a bit warm when first parked. If you do store some do check regularly 'cos like the bad apple thing one dodgy spud will ruin a sackful and the smell :eek:0

Potato and cheese pie. I add spring onions to it if I'm feeling extravagant - kids love it. Mashed potato freezes well.0

Potato cakes/scones (add onion to make it more interesting)0
