If i dont get a job, which is looking highly likley with 90-100 people going for every post,I will ask for a placement as a provider worker!0

Which isnt always possible because a lot of employers who advertise these part time jobs then stipulate that you have to be available 24/7
This is unreasonable and shouldnt be allowed.
Employers dont care if their employees have to live in poverty due to their practices.0 -
Dandelionclock 30 is being petty perhaps. BUT makes a good point in a way. You see, those on ND, FND and now the WP posting any criticism, voicing concern or simply asking questions are told "you should be spending time doing jobsearch rather than spending all day on the internet". This is often used as a crude way to close down debate and criticism. Works both ways I'm afraid.Shouldnt you be helping the unemployed back to work instead of spending all day on the internet, you dont want to end up on a disciplinary! LOL0 -
the main problem is relying on 2 jobs because if one is lost you cant resign from the other and get jsa.Which isnt always possible because a lot of employers who advertise these part time jobs then stipulate that you have to be available 24/7

Not by me they're not. When I was unemployed, the internet provided a lot of links & information I missed from the work environment. I have not said that at all. I love debate and am happy to accept criticism.0 -

Does anyone know anyone who has got a proper job from a placement?
The most memorable one for me was a guy who came on a Pre-Employment Training course (now called Sector Based Work Academy by JCP). The training included employability skills (you know the sort of thing) and preparation training to take the CSCS card test. This was followed by unpaid work experience on a building site with a large main contractor. He had severe dyslexia, major confidence issues as well as other issues relating to being une, ployed for about the last 10 years (he was about 35). He had not passed an exam since he was about 11 and had tried the CSCS test about 3 times & failed. We coached him, worked on his confidence with exams & he passed 1st time. The change in him was obvious, he engaged with the work experience, taking on all tasks and chatted to the main and sub contractors on site. From this he was offered fulltime permanent work, ok it was on the gate of the site but he may as well have won the lottery. This is why I say I am proud of the work I do and the people who provide the hands on training.0 -
So as far as you can in solid figures, can you explain how many people have been referred to your particular provider from the start of the WP and how many from that have now started in full/pt paid employment?
Genuinely not trying to trip you up on this, but It would be interesting to know whetehr it may be worth volunteering..0 -
Unfortunately I dont have figures from the Main Contractor beyond how many have been referred. In the last 12 weeks or so, one of the 2 main contractors in my area have had about 700 on programme. If I get any more info, happy to provide it (anonymously of course!).
The main area I work in around this is in what is now called Sector Based Work Academies, previously known as Pre Employment Training. We work with specific employers on specific programmes such as providing CSCS cards, employability skills & site experience. I have contact with the Work Programme contractors but not directly through the Work Programme. if that makes sense, sorry its convoluted.0
