The areas are split larger than by town, more like county(ish) boundaries.0 -

I cannot honestly believe that anyone could believe at all in this.Look at the news the other night it said unemployment was 9.1%. There was no mention about the work programme helping this poor unfortunate group of people back into the workplace. I really wonder why?
Yes, unemployment generally has risen, in this area though, the local JCP office that I work with on various projects has seen a fall in the number of people claiming JSA. I work for a college and so dont have direct input into providing jobs. My role is establishing partnerships with the likes of JCP, local authority, employers and third sector organisations to provide training and work experience for the clients, sorry cant beat me round the head with that one!0 -
the main barrier is employers not wanting to know about someone who is long term. nothing they do changes this. training, work placements, at the end of the day they are still long term. maybe if placements were subsidised employment then people would be able to say they are no longer long term and will instantly become more appealing to employers.dandelionclock30 wrote: »A very big barrier is the lack of jobs.
I know the solution ! let all the unemployed fight each other tooth and nail for each opportunity!
End result- full employment.
Easy!0 -
There was the Future Jobs Fund which did something along those lines, this was cut unfortunately before the end of the project. Created a lot of subsidised jobs in many areas.0

those people usually get told to get 2 part time jobs. And how many of those vacancies were full time
How many of them were 8 hours or 12 hrs or 16 hrs a week
If a claimant doesnt have children they need to be in a job that is at least 30 hours a week to claim working tax credits. So how are you addressing those types of barriers.
For instance how can you expect a single person or a couple WITHOUT kids to live on a part time wage from say a 20 hour a week job on minimum wage hmmm? Especially when they cant claim tax credits because the job isnt enough hours and they dont have living proof that they have had sex without contraception!0 -

i am at triage central, which is a sub contractor for working links, i was singing on yesterday and there was no mention of triage, or any mention of sanctions, ive not got a clue what's going on and i don't want to ask on the working links page on facebook as its recorded and triage can see what ive said
its been a joke since day one on it, they double booked me al ready, even phoned me while on holiday asking why i didn't turn up even though they knew i was a way and my appointment was for when i came back, i have noticed that triage central in Darlington has went bust, but im not sure if it anything to do with that, i have an appointment at the end off the month for a review but im not sure if that will happen now, they tried to get me onto a goals course, but i got told it was full, that was on the 18th Aug, was ment to be there on 2nd of sep, but that was ment to be rescheduled, but as of yet no call or letter0 -
no doubt alot of people will be pi**ed off due to getting sent to other towns rather than a provider in their own town like it would always have been in the past.saintjammyswine wrote: »The areas are split larger than by town, more like county(ish) boundaries.0 -

Sounds like a shocking experience, wish I could help, sorry.0 -

The providers should be using facilities dotted around each area they are in, offices, schools, local JCP offices are the usual ones.0
