Sorry, yes the NEA is part of the work programme but seperate to the Work Experience part. The Work Programme comprises of;
Work Experience
Work CLubs
Enterprise Allowance0 -
Work experience- you mean slave labour.
If theres a job to be done then the person should be paid for it, and not dole money.
What a load of total crap.0 -
Or the person on the dole does something extra to contribute towards their return to work?0

what would make it ok is this, if companies just took people for a couple of weeks just so that they can see they arent a headbanger before then offering a job then i would be fine with that. i also think for those 2 weeks the scheme should pay the person something extra. lets say £50 but its divided into each day you do and only paid if you turn up. this would help deter people from taking days off.dandelionclock30 wrote: »Work experience- you mean slave labour.

Agree but JSA can be sanctioned if people do not complete the programme. Unless they say to JCP it really isn't for them and get agreement to leave the programme or if they find employment. Also companies are using this as an extended interview anyway in many cases, some people may have a very different idea of what the job is before they get some experience in it and it allows the company to see how someone fits in. In many cases though it is simply an opportunity to get work experience both in terms of the job but also being in the workplace, structured days, around people etc. I know for some people this is not an issue but for many it is a real barrier to returning to or even starting work.0
