I too am tired of them, but I particpate, so do you OP.
I dont know why I do it, contribute I mean? Maybe I should do some serious navel gazing. Might be more productive! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I don't think that a few doomsters posting on MSE are going to cause a house price crash if that's the OP's concern.0

I don't know whether the majority are on a restricted budget. Some people, Martin being a prime example(!), just like to save money.
This board also probably has a lesser proportion of people on a restrcited budget than others.
I also think that each of the threads/arguments show a balanced view of what people think will happen. It isn't all propagada.
I don't really get involved in the house price thing because I haven't a clue what will happen, but whilst some of the threads are repetitive, I have learnt much, especially from those with a good grasp of economics.
The board does say 'house prices' too

I think you mean "the rest of the country" outside your little enclave of city earnings.Because in my opinion this forum is predominantly visited by people on a restricted budget and therefore all opinions are highly likely to be skewed as evident by recent threads.
Seeing how the forum is predominantly visited by such people then they are the majority and you are the minority. As far as I'm concerned, there can be a new house price thread started every minute. That's what a public forum is all about.Happy chappy0 -
nor is it a good place to talk about the buying and selling of houses
Did you not read the name of this particular forum?0 -

Hi folks
Actually this site is a very broad church, the recent polls shows 43% of respondents are debt free. And in past poll shows a substantial minority of users earn over 50k and have savings over 100k.
It's always been my idea that this site is about saving money whether you're in debt or not, rich or poor - its about taking companies on and maximising what you've got.
So to discuss the best way to buy a plasma tv is well within purvue, as is whether or not to buy a house right now. In fact its one of the questions I'm most commonly asked.
So I'm afraid I disagree that we have too many POSTS on this subject though perhaps we do have too many THREADs. In other words, there's already plenty of discussions on the subject on these boards, and it'd be great if we kept to those discussions so they're all going on in one place.

It's a discussion forum, ergo people express their opinions and it is up to the reader to decide how valid or reliable a post is. If you don't like that then don't bother reading the posts. The house price threads are clearly titled. The comments and advice frequently provided by some of the select avid members have increasing come to a point of being complete BS that no one in my opinion can now deem anything said as being credible. There are a lot of good replies from some of the members but there are too many people trying to make this part of the forum their brainwashing mission.Happy chappy0 -
Usually there seems to be about 2 threads on the 1st page of this 1 section of the forums discussing the price of property. Personally I dont think that's too many about such an emotive subject that is affecting the majority of people in this country.
Unfortunately as it is such an emotive subject it also attracts extreme reactions and seems to be the most common place on the entire forums for people to disagree strongly with each other, which also probably accounts for the popularity of the threads.0 -
This is the first thread about house prices I've looked at. If you don't like a title don't delve further!
