Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Whilst I think this site is a great site for moneysaving tips, I have to say that it is definitely not a great site to talk about things that in general that have a high cost value. It is not a good site to talk about Tag watches, Lambo Gallardo cars nor is it a good place to talk about the buying and selling of houses particularly the direction of the housing market.
Why?
Because in my opinion this forum is predominantly visited by people on a restricted budget and therefore all opinions are highly likely to be skewed as evident by recent threads.
The comments and advice frequently provided by some of the select avid members have increasing come to a point of being complete BS that no one in my opinion can now deem anything said as being credible. There are a lot of good replies from some of the members but there are too many people trying to make this part of the forum their brainwashing mission.
At the end of the day there are plenty of posts in the archives discussing house prices so in an attempt to save the future sanity of all members I would urge a complete ban of !!!!!! and potentially disruptive threads on the future direction of house prices.

It'll never happen. Period.0

I have to agree with the idea that there are no posts speculating about house prices, simply because I think the Board is more about the practicalities of house buying, selling, moving & renting etc.
There ought to be a separate Board for those that want to gaze into a crystal ball
There are enough threads speculating about the future and one of those should be resurrected, if the debate needs to be continued.
Edit: oops - just noticed that the Board description includes ".... House Prices"
Oh well, nice idea (just because I think the topic has been "done to death" and it's getting rather boring)
Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

Don't read the threads relating to house prices then. Simple solution.A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining and wants it back the minute it begins to rain.0 -
That must likewise mean that no one can come on and suggest that prices are going to continue growing strongly....
How does that work? I am sure there are many people who have no real idea what is going on. Are we really going to tell them that we will not help in the slightest? I accept that there is alot of nonsense, but it is the same from both sides. Alot of people with a bit of knowledge arguing both for and against a crash.
A few months back there was almost no crash discussion - if a crash is what visitors wish to discuss, who are you to tell them they cant?2 + 2 = 4
except for the general public when it can mean whatever they want it to.0 -
Been rather inclement lately hasn't it?0

Do you think the wind is going to continue rising or will it drop back?0

You mean weather house prices are going to crash?0

But in these days of rising house prices, what is a restricted budget and why should their views in this open forum make any difference to you. Opinions are just what they say they are on the tin....................0
