If a deal is between people of equal intelligence and equal knowledge, then that is a fair bargain.

Unfortunately some people fail to realise that a squad of door to door sales people have a lot of training in how to sell, never be "sold", it is your job to go out and be a savvy buyer.
"we never buy anything at the door/phone" - "clunk" It is a pretty good rule of thumb.

This is the discussion thread for the following MSE News Story:

"Reading !!!!!! to desensitise, then switching customers without their knowledge. Welcome to door-to-door energy sales ..."

Since when is the "Penthouse" considered pr0n? And if it would be, who READS a pr0n magazine ;)
  • The energy salesmen have just been replaced by chuggers....

I was told by a sales rep that his company had been asked to offer advice by the welsh assembly to residents following price increases. I have since been advised by local AM that n the welsh assembly have not employed anybody to give any such advice and will be taking it up directly with the energy supplier!

SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)
  • What a complete and outter load of garbage, if I want to read a dramatised piece of fiction I would read a book, I cant see what place this has in MSE and I hope this is not the way of things to come.

Come on MR Lewis surely we can do better than this
  • Only ever had doorstep salesmen once. "We're from Scottish Power just making sure you're registered for your discount". So my wife innocently let them in and they spent half an hour filling in forms before getting to "..and who is your current energy supplier?". Scottish Power of course, but surely you knew that? Not anymore tho!

Amateurish and pathetic attempts by SP representatives. Had SP invested money in their sales force rather than subcontracting it all out and not providing customer lists this type of activity would`nt have happened.

I believe that this industry could have worked had the correct infrastructure been in place from the outset.

The blame for that is knock knocking at the door of a toothless bulldog of an `organisation` called OFGEM.

  • Bit of a strange article from MSE, particularly since it is someone's experiences from 9 years ago!

More current underhand tactics saw my mum be missold npower energy from a Wilkinsons store - "We'll guarantee to lower your bill by £5 every month"...all they did was take her direct debit down by said £5 per month which left her owing them the difference after a year or so!
