Yodel - shockingly bad - email address anyone?

I had a mattress delivered by them.
first time I missed it as i was at work, then i rang to say could they deliver it the next day after 3pm so she said maybe, she would put after 3pm. Asked if they could leave it with a neighbour, so i said no since its a mattress so i doubt anyone wants it left in their house!!
Next day i got home at 3pm, no card left so i thought great they haven't been, well it got to 8pm and no mattress, then my neighbour arrived to say they had my mattress!!
Not that it was a big deal but they didn't leave me a card saying my neighbour had it! Thank god i have trustworthy neighbours!
The woman on the phone should have told you straight tbh, that they cannot guarantee delivery times. It's unrealistic to expect them to deliver after 3, not long before their shift will end and messing up their root.
I know a self-employed courier who has a dedicated mobile number for customers, he always gets people requesting specific times and then not being in at those times -- others simply ask for deliveries at ridiculous times, like after 7PM or on a Sunday or at an address completely off his route.
It is though shocking they couldn't even leave a card  -- especially in this day and age where we're not all blessed with nice neighboughs0 -

As the recipients of goods we don't have a leg to stand on to complain to the delivery service.
The driver that does my round continually lies - saying that he tries to deliver but doesn't even attempt. The customer (not us, the sender) just gets the tracking info that says they tried to deliver / left a card... or whatever the driver decides to 'make up' that day. So who does the sender believe? Us, or the huge delivery company with fancy slogans about 'not letting people down'. Whoever they decide to believe we don't win or change anything by complaining. We can't make them use a different delivery company.
I say take the ball out of there court and refuse to sign properly for anything that is late, or in anyway breaches the contract that is established between the three parties involved. Then you have something to bargain with!!?
Refuse to take deliveries from, or use Yodel!
Actually, it's quids in for them (in the shortrun anyway). They will return to sender and charge for it without the need of actually collecting the parcel.
Also, you don't actually know they are breaching the contract with the seller -- it is likely any service is "unguaranteed".
You could also find yourself in a dispute with the sender if they charge you the return costs.0 -
Just found this thread after yet another foul-up by Yodel.
Take a look at the reviews here:

Beats me how they stay in business, but I'm assuming they must be cheap. I've now reached the point that if a company's using Yodel for its deliveries, I'll try to find an alternative company.
Stunningly bad customer service centre in Liverpool, incredibly inefficient deliveries locally (they have a nice habit of sending different packages out on different vans on the same day, so you have to wait in twice - and the drivers have no idea why), and shambolic throughout the entire organisation.
How about this from their CEO:“”We are delighted to be unveiling this new brand, which represents our ambitions to be a truly customer focused business offering a full suite of services that others in the market cannot match.”
The combined business is already growing faster than the market and we are excited about our future potential.”0 -
I ordered 3 items from very.co.uk yesterday - all due today.
Had email last night saying parcel was due today and if not convenient then rearrange by replying to this email.... which I didn't need to do as I was going to be in today.
Delivery arrived this morning at 10.45am... opened the parcel and two out of the three items were in there.
Went onto the very website to track the missing item... yes, it is in a separate parcel.
Items I received today were loaded onto the van at 6.46am.
Missing item was loaded onto van at 8.33am at the same depot. We live in a village quite a way away from the depot so surely they wouldn't have two different vans covering the same area?
I have just rang Yodel ... well, I may as well have asked next doors cat!
EDIT: had to go out for school run before I had chance to ring very. My second parcel turned up at 3.25pm while I was out!! how on earth is it good business sense for these companies to put items on two separate vans on the same day?0 -

well lets look at it this way
you have early/time sensitive items/collections
so you need a van on the road by X time
so that van leaves and another van mops up whats left
having everything sorted and loaded for the day by 0646 would be good going
dont you think?
you got your items delivered today as ordered
still not good enough?0 -

Too easy an excuse for them. This happens time and time again in our area too, and it's obvious from the tracking times that this isn't the answer. They just seem to be so badly organised, and care so little about customer service, that they just dump the stuff wherever it suits them to.
Items delivered as ordered not good enough? Well, no, actually. Because if the stuff doesn't all arrive on one van you then have to wait in for the second van - people haven't got the time to wait around all day for deliveries.
I spoke to the company that sent my goods yesterday. They said they'd had so many complaints about Yodel that they're considering ditching them, and they've marked my account that another carrier should be used in future.
Other discontents should consider doing the same. It may hurt Yodel where it needs to - in the pocket. It's the only thing that will make them improve. Or go bust.0 -

Im not sure what you mean here? so your explanation for having 2 runs is they are dumping stuff anywhere?

I note your comments, but can't agree. Not all companies just choose the cheapest, and negative feedback from customers does count with good companies. Why else do you think my account has been marked not to use Yodel for future deliveries?
Enough bad feedback, and Yodel will find themselves dropped. There are plenty of other, much better, carriers operating at similar prices, and any company wanting to keep its regular customers (which is where the profit is) won't want to antagonise them with the poor standards that Yodel regard as normal.
I think perhaps your background with Royal Mail might be colouring your judgment on people's expectations, and what they can do if those expectations aren't met. We used to be satisfied with the standards set by Parcelforce once, until we learned from competition how much better other companies could be. Now they're just seen as a bit of a joke, and Yodel are in the same league.0 -
Had 6 things delivered by yodel now. All been seamless, very impressed with them. They must deliver thousands of parcels a day so you are always going to get some unhappy vocal customers. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I've had a few deliveries from Yodel this week and, although I've had no issues with receiving the items, when I track the parcels on line, the info does not correspond with the reality. For example, I received a package today at around 4pm but it shows via tracking as having been delivering yesterday at 5pm. Similarly, a parcel received on Tuesday is showing as having been delivered on Monday
I'm signing for them so can only assume the inconsistencies are to make their targets look better than they are and it wouldn't be picked up on unless I made a complaint (and I don't intend to do so, got my hands full with complaints against Royal Mail!)08 wins £3000+ :j09 wins £4408:j2010 (6 months off) £2004:j2011 £10,003 :j 2012 - £6013 :j2013 wins £8500 :j 2014 £5530 so far....0
