No it is ADSA onlineexclusive who are underwritten by ecar. They will not take my call. As said I did try that avenue already. Thanks.
• As far as I'm aware eCar aren't underwriters, they are just brokers.

Incidentally, did they say what the extra payment was for, and did you notify them that you were driving abroad? I'd send an email off to Watchdog, if you're one of over 100 people in the same boat they might help you get your money back

I did all that. It is the same info that I aleady have. The links don't work i.e. they bounce back. The number is an advice number with no way to contact anyone. I am sorry but I thought I made all that clear in my first post. Sorry if I did not make it clear enough.:A

As a test, I sent a test email message to the ( complaints@asdaonlineexclusive.co.uk ) email address.

They responded as follows:

Received : Friday, 9 September 2011, 9:10

Thanks for emailing ASDA Online Exclusive Insurance. Your email has been allocated ticket number 259nnnn

We'll respond to your email as soon as we can

Our office hours are:

Monday to Friday 9am until 5pm

Please be aware that this is an automated response so we don't monitor any responses sent to this email address.

Thanks

ASDA Online Exclusive Help Desk

So their email address works for me.

Anyhow, if you have written a letter of complaint, you will have to wait for a response and if you do not here back after 8 weeks then you CAN escalate via the FOS complaints process - see : http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/complaints.htm

In the mean time, if you need to drive, you have little option but to try to arrange alternative insurance cover. I would speak to the prospective insurer and explain that you have an outstanding complaint with Asda online exclusive re the cancelled policy.

Yep this was my guess as well. My policy was sold by eCar, underwritten by Southern Rock, and the credit was provided by Panacea. eCar pass the buck to Panacea, who pass it back and vice versa.

OP I didn't suggest you needed "approval" some insurers ask that you notify them that you are using that part of the cover. It also adds weight to their incompetence if they KNEW you were out of the country but insisted on an additional payment when you would not receive the letter in time.

Create a free yahoo.co.uk email address for yourself, I used a disposable yahoo email address to carry out the test.

Good luck with Head Office
