Boiler & Central heating service

We would like to service our boiler and central heating system to make sure that they are working efficiently. however, we are on low income and just wonder whether we can get this done for free or with some money help. I did search the web but haven't found anything.

  • I don't think you'll get it done for free, not sure if there are any grants available? Do you own your home or is it rented?
  • Thanks for your reply. We own our house on mortgage.

there is the Homecare Energy Register.... they give a safety check as opposed to a Service.... they dont repair it either.

This service is provided by British Gas.. more info here:

Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?
  • Another member did mention Groupon sometimes having a Boiler Service Package available.

Alternatively, have you tried any local firms? Is there anything you can do for them, in return?

My fathers friends work for themselves and have often worked for their dinner (quite literally) in local restaurants... And one particular time, a Sky Engineer 'swapped' a boiler service for installing Sky into my friends bedrooms.

No cash exchanged hands, only labour. Worth considering...

the more i read this the more i cant believe what i have read.

    You want everything for free.....
When Gas is involved you only get one chance. so servicing your boiler should NOT be neglected. make a few cut backs, and that will cover your cost. if you smoke, cut back abit, etc etc

    geez... some people.
