Broadband & Landline best deals

Hi guys

Just wondering what deals people recommend for phone and broadband
we have been with talktalk for about 4 years and its £30 p/m which I think we can reduce loads and looking for a possible cashback deal or something similar.
we are with sky for our tv which is about £40 p/m so maybe look into a deal with them although I dont think we can get their broadband or perhaps its just one of their broadband services.

cheers :)

Broadband is exchange specific, so it's not possible to give general recommendations. Do an exchange search on www.samknows.com and look for your available LLU providers. These will be the cheapest deals for you.
You can get Sky broadband on any exchange, but unless you are on a Sky LLU exchange then it will only be the dire Sky Connect service, which is just a resold BT Wholesale service.
Also bear in mind that if you are already on a TT LLU line, then you will probably not be able to switch to another LLU provider direct-you'll have to take your line rental back to BT first on a return to donor. This is free, but requires a 12m line rental contract. Once back on the BT network, you can then place your broadband where you wish.

  • not sure what all that llu stuff means mate but just done a search and this is my area results

As you can see your only other LLU option is Orange who used to be dire but may have improved. It also says your area is cabled but you'd need to check your actual address on the VM site to confirm you can get it.

There would be marginal savings on 10Mbps plus there is usually a cashback deal on Quidco or TopCashBack in addition to the free months VM offer directly.

You need to check if your line is already LLU'd (Local Loop Unbundled) by TT, if so you probably have to go back to BT for your line rental first anyway. Sky is not a option, as no LLU.
Since you appear to be happy with TT (apart from price) I'd try for a better deal with retentions.

Unfortunately Orange are removing their LLU services so they're not really a viable option anymore.

I'm disinclined to trust SamKnows 100% given that the info was wrong/outdated on the exchange I've just moved to. £70 for a combo of television phone and broadband is incredibly expensive; I'd recommend calling Virgin, as I'm sure Norton Lees and the surrounding area was original cabled by (then) Blueyonder/Telewest.

Failing that I'd ring Sky, although you're on a "Market 3" exchange, their access style BT wholesale package is unlikely to be much worse than talktalk, and if you bundle everything up with sky you're likely to get a better deal.

Don't buy it over the phone unless they offer you some crazy deal, find out the facts on the phone and go through Quidco, Sky always pay crazy cashback.

Why not just ask to be put onto the current TT tariff? Even with Unltd BB and Anytime calls that should cost you no more than £25.76. More like £20.30 for Essentials if that's suitable. At £30pm you are clearly paying old legacy rates.
