i need some advice. In Oct 2006, i purchased a 12 mega pixel camera from ebay...well i payed the person outside ebay. It was from Digi-flex. I gave it to my dad as a gift and just last month my dad thought he would use it and realised that the camera is faulty...the pics dont even come out at 0.1 pixel! I emailed digi-flex and the woman says that they will only exchange (which is fine by me until...) but i will have to pay more to get a better quality camera!!!! I payed money to get a 12 mega pixel camera and now i have to pay more!!! I have called trading standards and they have advised me to write them a letter by recorded delivery which i will do tonight. This camera even came with a years warranty and apparently, the guy from trading standards told me that i have full right to get en exchange ( comes under of the acts). Any other advice???

£70 for a 12 megapixel: it's one of those cheap ones. A good cannon 3.1 MP costs about £120. There website dosen't look that good as well http://www.megxon.com/tekxon.htm.
As the saying goes if it looks to good to be true it probably is.Come on you Irons0 -
What is the model of the camera?
Do you still have a copy of the advert to substantiate that they were miss-advertising it?
Are they currently still advertising the same item or was it a one off?
Are you sure it is 0.1 mega pixels? this would be a file 270*360, how was it not noticed earlier? Have you checked the file size setting, most cameras have tiny, small, medium or large optionsAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

description says (3.1MP Camera Sensor interpolated to 12.0MP)
have you checked as suggested the picture size options?Baby Milk Action is a non-profit organisation which aims to save lives and to end the avoidable suffering caused by inappropriate infant feeding.0 -

Had a look on Ebay, if its Digi-flexuk, they seem to have very good feedback which would imply there are fairly trustworthy/reasonable in their dealings.
I get the impression that what was said was "you get what you pay for"....I would expect for a good quality 12Mp camera to be paying in excess of £300....looking at their stock I don't think they deal in hi end stuff.
If the item is faulty...and normally the seller has to verify this first...you are entitled to have a refund or an exchange, you are entitled I believe in the short space of time you've had it , to reject any offer of repair.
I think you may find if you want a replacement you will get one, but if you want a better quality camera...you will have to pay more....there is a lot of confusion about real mega pixels...i.e. without interpolation or software doing the job....perhaps more information about the make , model of the camera....and the price paid will get more answers on here.
good luck in your refundI'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j

I'm not even sure that there is such a thing as a generally available 12 meg camera yet, an 8 meg Canon or Nikon is over £800.
If someone is advertising a 12 meg camera for £69.99, as per Zinger's link, that just 'aint so !
This is a much lower resolution camera using "Interpolation", which is trickery in the camera's electronics to claim a much higher resolution. It usually doesn't work very well. If you trawl thru' all the small print you should find that word. If you don't this is a misrepresentation - see Trading Standards.
Amazon are selling a "12 meg" camera, but Interpolation is prominent in their advert, as one would expect from a reputable trader. They give it one star out of five !
The MOST important thing on a camera is that piece of glass on the front, and good piece of glass costs.
These cameras are NOT worth the money.0 -
Evan on that advert in ebay it is fairly clear it is interpolated.
The lens is certainly one of the most important but the sensor (quality not megapixels) and "software" are equally important - as a poor piece of glass will only ever give bad pictures so would terrible on board processing that failed to focus the camera properly and then had compression issues (assuming no facility for RAW format)All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
