I am not sure from your post if you understand that you are not "with" the reseller for the period of your contract - you are with the network.

The reseller does have the obligation to deal with any handset problems for a period. For the first 6 months, the onus is on him to prove manufacturing faults are not the cause. After that, you have to prove it is a manufacturing fault.

In practice, it becomes harder to prove the longer into the contract.

However, no reseller is obliged to give you a replacement handset, unless they have it in the contract.

Go for the best deal, both handset and network, remembering that if you ask Voda for your PAC code at the right time, their retentions will probably make you an offer.
  • sorry should have stated that i also had carphone warehouse insurance "geek squad" and in that it stated they will give you a replacement phone to use. and that you can get a recondisioned (sorry 4 spelling) one straight away if it needs to be sent away. this is why i was peeved that i had a basic replacement phone when in my insurance it said i wouldnt have to do this (if all this makes sense)

It is not clear what problems you had with CPW. It is very unlikely that any retailer will supply you with anything better than a basic handset while repairing your handset. In fact most will not give you any replacement.

What kind of contract with P4U do you mean?

Your airtime contract is with the network, not with CPW or P4U.
P4U do have redemption deals. Is this what you want to know?

Generally, for a usual purchase without redemption, p4u (or CPW) as a retailer are responsible only for repair or replacement of a faulty handset.

    ETA:
Regarding insurance, you can buy it independently, not necessarily from CPW or P4U.
