Alertme Panel - Anyone else on it?

Liam
I've had mine in a week and to be honest can't say much about it but it works and we've never been broken into yet and so can't comment on the effectiveness of the alert side of things.
I have started adding more sensors to the system purchased on Ebay but let me warn you, the 2 sensors I got weren't working and I'm now in a dispute with the seller so I would advise getting them new from AtlerMe!
I have also been accepted for the AlertMe energy trial and shall be given some free kit from AlertMe to monitor my energy usage etc.
I've had to move the hub for mine though as there is a wireless black spot between the top front of the house and the rear bottom of the house. I can't even get normal WiFi to work! I used a NetGear Wifi/Cat5 extender and placed the hub in the front bottom of the house directly underneath the Virgin Superhub that has it turns out isn't that super! and now it can contact all my sensors.
I was going to get loads of the gear and totally kit the house out but I'm a bit dubious as to how long AlertMe! will continue to trade as a company.
I don't mean this in a bad way or want to put anyone off purchasing the kit but after Nabaztag, a similar start-up business offering bespoke WiFi products went bust I'm less inclined to start shelling out for all the kit when I don't see it on sale in any other online retailer apart from Ebay where people are getting rid of it.
I mean, the website and company logo has had a makeover but is that to generate a new look in hope of re-launching the kit or is it because there are thousands of people using the service and AlertMe can afford to do an image refresh?
I'll post again when I have sorted out my non working Ebay purchased sensors and let you know the results. Including a full review from your average Joe installing the kit for the first time.
Cheers

Thanks for posting. Can I ask how you found out about this and applied for the trial please?
Cheers,
Cliff
Hi Cliff, I've been interested in AlertMe! for a while and so I signed up to their news letter. After about 7 months I got an email saying that there was to be a trial and to sign up for it on-line, so I did.

Thanks Willy, I must have missed this as I've been getting the Newsletter for a while. Oh well.0

I am only on the alert me trial to monitor electricity usage. As I have received my pack I suspect the trial has already started.0

Sorry Liam
I've got my wires crossed. I was also accepted into the AlertMe! Energy Monitoring trial and confirmed this by email last week.
Did yours arrive via royal mail? If it did then I fear mine may be at the delivery office as I have 2 Royal Mail red delivery notes on my fridge from Friday.

I know British Gas are quite a big investor in this company and they are pushing this in some areas as well so unlikely to go bust as such.
If you go to there investor page on there website you will see what I mean.0 -
Makes you wonder why the energy companies don't offer discounts either on the purchase price of this or the fact you're using one means you're being proactive in trying to reduce energy costs (still I guess a bad thing for their profits and shareholders).0

Mine is about to be despatched, I joined the trial through Scottish Power. My daughter though, received one through Eon although she's never used it.Money, money, money, must be funny, in the rich man's World!0
