Are you using a webcam/itunes/powerdvd or other cyberlink software on this machine?

I use Powerdvd for video playback - don't use it for anything else

iTunes is used quite a bit and we do have an old Logitech webcam but I think some of the Logitech guff comes from the Logitech Harmony Remote I use - programmed on the PC.

Booting times today... seems quicker although tbh I've never timed it before...

11 seconds - from pressing the button to Windows beginning the boot process

46 seconds - to get to user logon

    1min40 - desktop appears

4 mins until all clattering seems to stabilise and the CleanMem usage monitor drops to reasonable levels - 35% (peaked around 51%)

It really isn't difficult to do when you have really knowledgeable and helpful people like Closed onboard. All I am doing is following the Sticky at the top of this board... Closed is giving me specific things to do based on my feedback and logs from performing the stickied operations. It's actually quite straight forward once you get going!

You could try stopping (not disabling for now) the richvideo service, and see if it affects dvd playback, if not, disable

Desktop should appear in less than 1 minute, can't see anything other than logitech software that might be affecting that. Windows update is going to be beavering away until it's fully patched - which may be part of the 4 minutes clattering

Once you have a feel for ram use, you could stop mini_monitor running at boot.

Thanks SO much for all of your help... think it's as clean as it's gonna get now!
