    of course not. Defend it.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

RPSS is a debt collections agency acting on behalf of the train operator.
They are a legitimate UK company 'revenue protection support services'.
The train staff issue a UPFN notice for anyone without a ticket or the means to purchase:
(although this is difficult IME, during my time as a guard I would refuse to issue these for those with no evidence of name at least, i.e. bank card, driving licence etc)

If someone else gave your name and address details then this is where this has come from.
There should be a space on the form for verification details: anything written there?
Be careful to make sure it definitely wasn't you as most train companies have CCTV everywhere including on the train! and if it was you write back quickly as they add a further £15(?) in costs every 2 weeks.
Otherwise write back to them and tell them this was not you and find out which one of your freinds is having a free ride at your expense (or not)!
Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.

  • On there website it says phone them but then they tell me to send them a letter as it's a legal requirement.

it will only be a legal requirement if you are definitely the person who owes them the fare: not for someone who's name & details have been unwittingly used to avoid payment.

Surely you can work out that if you can't get through on the phone then you will need to write to them.

If I were you I would be writing a letter anyway.
It is the only way you will have any proof that you have told them it wasn't you.
