Do come back to the zoo after 2012- kids love pandas! :)

When are the pandas due to arrive, zagubov?

Not totally sure- heard it was this year, but somehow had the idea it was actually 2012 instead. Hopefully some other posters can update us.:o

Thank you. I'd heard this year too, but they aren't specific on the website. I'm going up at Halloween, so keeping my eyes out.

Hi we've booked to go to Edinburgh for the 1st time in December (thanks to the travelodge sale) and would like some ideas on things to do. We've got two children who are 6 and 3 so it will be focused around them. Also any moneysaving advice is appriciated! :jThanks for any advice you can give us. xxx

    from where?
  • Calton Hill is the one with the monument - Arthur Seat just has a trip point. Calton Hill is a manageable walk and has a great view but Arthur's Seat is a long haul with kids if you don't have a car. If you want to do it, might be best to grab a cab to the nearest road point which is about half an hour from the top (walking down is easier but you'll still end up quite away from the town.

Don't forget Edinburgh is only a 20 minute bus ride from the sea. Both Leith and Portobello are pleasant old fashioned seaside resorts with arcades and stuff so a walk along the beach followed by a play on the machines (Portobello has an indoor swimming pool half way along the beach) is a nice way to spend an afternoon.
