QUOTE=meritaten;46749349]WelshSue, this wouldnt happen to be a small family run bus company, which actually were taken to court over a bus which caused serious injury to a young passenger, when its gearing mechanism (I think) disintegrated and smashed into her legs? Its well known in this Valley for the appalling state of most of its vehicles?[/QUOTE]
Hmm, never heard of that but this is a small family owned company. Private minibus under contract to the council.0 -
Hi
I would write to the council asking them to inspect the vehicle in the first instance, and also ask if
they have a vehicle maximum age policy. As the council are the ones paying the operator, they will want to make sure that they are adhering to the terms and conditions of the contract.
Hope this helps

When I was involved with a school transport contract, the contract specified that the coach had to be roadworthy, have seat belts and be less than 20 years old. I don't know if all school contracts are the same. I suspect it depends on the LA.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I will pm you the name of the company Sue. their depot is only a few hundred yards from my home and I happen to know they still have quite a few 'old' vehicles.
For obvious reasons I cannot name them on here.0
