Hi Chums, I think Shalva is in Israel,so no problem dry the sheets there.
Got the boys off to school no probs this morning then decided to have a wander around my newly refurbed Wilkinsons As I entered I was offered a sweet plus a 'goody bag' as I was one of the first 50 through the door Inside was a packet of thirty vanilla smelling tea light candles which was very nice.I wanted to buy a bug swot that I saw at my friends on Saturday .Someone had bought her one and I thought thats just the thing for zapping flies as it works beautifully. It looks like a small tennis raquet and has an electronic gadget in the 'string ' part so when the fly hits it you simply press the button and Mr Fly is dead as a dodo.Brilliant thing, and its so much better that those horrible spray things that are full of chemicals .Well they didn't have one at my local store but the lady phone to the Chatham store and they put it by for me. I left my car in the car park and caught the bus down to Chatham and picked it up (parking and road works make it not a good place to be with a car, plus of course I have a free bus pass being an old biddy:))Just returned and I have put some batteries in the handle and not a fly in sight at the moment but beware any who decide my house is for their lunch zone as it will be zap ,sizzle and exit disgusting flies forever
:)
All the ironing is up to date and no washing to be done at the moment .I'm just about to forage for some lunch i think it will be a salad with maybe some tuna and sweetcorn.
Hope everyone is havinga good day although some of you seem to be in need of a <<hug>>
Take care

Afternoon, all.
Productive day today. 12 x 1lb jars of apple & elderberry jelly made and another batch of juice straining to make apple & blackcurrant jelly tomorrow. Apple jelly looks a bit peely-wally if you just use apples so I chuck in a pound of some sort of berry or currant to every five pounds of apple, for taste and colour. Next week I'll make apple & raspberry, and apple & bramble. You can tell I've got lots of apples to use up, no? I think 48 jars of apple jelly will be quite enough though.
Yesterday I went through DD's wardrobe and drawers and fished out all her summer clothes, worn out things and stuff that was too small. Some to the charity shop bag, some to pass on, some to store for next year, some for recycling. Not much left in the drawers though, even after I sorted through the box I packed away in May of things that might do another year. She needs another couple of pairs of jeans, boots, couple of warm cardigans or sweaters (better get knitting!), a pair of party jeans, party shoes and a couple of smart tops. Oh, and school shoes very soon too. Sigh. She just won't stop growing! Her birthday is in six weeks though so the party clothes will get wrapped then as extra presents.
Tonight we're having potato, cauliflower and broccoli cheesy bake, with nice sausages. Rhubarb and greek yoghurt for pud. Everything from the Whoopsie section except the potatoes and rhubarb (I grew them) and the milk for the cheese sauce and the yoghurt. Oh, and Hubby was complaining bitterly last night about the absence of sweet munchie things...I normally get danish pastries or similar from the whoopsies too, but nothing much the last few days. So I am making a sultana and syrup tea loaf in the breadmaker, from some elderly sultanas I found in the larder. Got to economise somewhere!
Have a nice day, all.Val.0 -
Afternoon everyone
Went to a friends this morning and have at least 5lbs of cooking apples that we picked from her treesI am sharing them with my mum and one of her friends as there is waaaaaaay too much for just little 'ole me. Have come back and changed kids beds, am halfway through making cottage pie for tea. Had last piece of brisket in freezer and despite being in SC it's still tough as old boots so that's been minced to make cottage pie. Got to cook veggies and spuds and that will be tea sorted
Feeling quite motivated, am enjoying my term time days being mindee freeIt's still just me and DD who is DESPERATE to go to school and asks me everytime we're going anywhere if she's going to school to see her friends. She's got still another week at home yet!!!
Anyway better get cracking, am trying to not spend too much time on internet as I eat moreand I don't get stuff done
Hugs for Beth, hope it goes OK xxx

afternoon all
not been on for a few days due to panicking about DS going to school. I thought his 1st day was on Tuesday and when I rung up to find out the time his transport would be here I was informed it was an inset day, so all that mental prep went to waste on Tuesday. Yesterday was DD1 and DS's 1st day back to school and both seemed happy enough at home time. DS was asleep though, so that might of helped
DD2 went to preschool this morning so I had a lovely 3 hours to myself in which I vacuumed and mopped, put WM & TD on and sorted one of my flower pots outside with some lovely cyclamen. Dinner tonight is Roast chicken. Not sure whether to do a full roast or just have chicken and chips. I think I'll have to go out and look how many runner beans we have ready and then decide as we don't have much frozen veg left.
Better get on with something I suppose

NPM thanks for that :A we have a disability centre about 3 miles away so I might get DH to take me up there tomorrow x
About the pet insurance I think that it will pay out if Fat Cat has been treated for the same thing - if you can get your vet to say it is they will pay up, but as all insurance companies are ready to scam you don't hold your breath, but it would be worth your while checking with the vet x
I hope all went well for Beth, she probably won't be up to posting until tomorrow, but I will check back later just in case.
I have made a chocolate sponge and a mandarine sponge and am off to make D&DD's Apple braid and then all the eggs will have been used up.
BFN xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Hi all,
Well what a to do it has been with the Hosp, today's app was to have an Ultra sound scan booked by them on the phone. Y'day morning a letter arrived asking me to phone for an app but to ignore if I already had one so I thought it was the same app being made. On re-reading the letter when we got home it was from a different dept. So now my Endoscopy is on Monday at 2.15. All of that pillow biting lastnight for nothing.
The good news is, all is well with Kidneys, Liver and Spleen. A large G&T will be enjoyed tonight.
DH & I will be able to enjoy our w/end at the Castle now and I wont think about the next app until Mon morning.
JACKIEO, we have 2 of those and they are great. Happy swotting or should I say frying.
Bless you all for your support. :A0 -
Hello everyone
Beth - I'm glad the scan results were good - enjoy that G&T, I think you really deserve it! Good luck for Monday too.
NPM - glad Fatcat is getting sorted - hope you can claim on the insurance OK.
Hester - Hope your hand improves soon, it sounds really painful
((Hugs)) to anyone I've missed and who is in need.
Hooray, hooray, it's Thursday! I don't work Fridays so the weekend (for me at least) starts here! I am shattered, but have lots to do at home tomorrow so need to get started on a list.
I made chicken soup overnight in the SC and tried some for lunch. I wasn't that keen - need to play about with herbs etc I think - but I have a huge bowl of it in the fridge and I'm not going to waste it so I'll grin and bear it. I found it quite greasy. I had removed all the skin so I'm not sure what caused it.
Dinner tonight is chickpea and chorizo casserole, loosely based on a Portuguese recipe and much loved by the family, followed by bread and butter pudding. I don't normally make a stodgy pud during the week but there was stale bread and like a good OS'er I wasn't going to let it go to waste(I know, I could have made breadcrumbs but somehow a pud seemed more appealing...)
Have good days all
