Just urgh....
So, I got the dog last week - picked him up at 3pm and had him in the vets by 4pm as he was in a terrible condition. He is on steroids for anti-flamatory and antibiotics and had to buy him some really cute doggy-jumpers because he has no fur on his back half and its really cold!
His toilet training is going well enough - just a couple of accidents indoors but he is loving his time here so far.
But his bottom stinks! I have been giving him WAGG Sensitive; as his number 2's were yukky - its sorted out that problem but I didn't expect it to cause wind.
Could it be the tablets?? He is a 4yo Westie btw.

Poor little dog, sounds like he's found the right owner now.
Farting could be for a number of reasons and the only way to find out is to eliminate them one at a time,
It could be the tablets upsetting him slightly,
A sudden change in food,
A reaction or allergy to the food,
Probably lots of other reasons,
Or if your unlucky he might just fart a lot more than other dogs.0 -
i think Wagg made my two fart worse than me, so it could be that. The 'yukky number 2's' could just be a change of diet; if he was on dry and you went over to tinned then it can cause them to pee out of their bum. (one of mine managed to eat a bag half a bag of midget gems and a bag of wine gums and then left me a puddle of what i'm hoping was Angel Delight on my black carpet)0

Just wanted to add Wagg is not the best, try iams, wellbeloved or science plan (more expensive but worth it).
Also how does he eat, if he scoffs down a whole load at once he may be swallowing too much air which could be the reason.0 -
Of the food mentioned in the previous post above James Wellbeloved would be my choice- but- there are foods just as good and a good bit cheaper (especially if bought on line)
Lots of ideas and discussion for good reasonably priced food here:

If your new dog came on Wagg then leave him on it for the meantime because you need to introduce a new food gradually and if he has tablets etc he ( or his tum has ) got to get used to them. Not quite the same, but if my dogs get an upset stomach ie the runs, I sprinkle approx 2 teaspoons of slippery elm powder on top. Keep that in my doggy 1st aid kit!
Hope your new friend settles down and you have fun!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Wagg is a pretty awful food.
There's plenty of good foods around. For his skins sake I'd go grain free as grain can cause skin problems.
James well beloved do a grain free, so do arden grange, vitalin, orijen, taste of the wild, arcana, wainwrights from pets at home do a grain free, wolfcol salmon and potato.
All various prices. But work out the price to feed per day, not the bag price to see the true cost.
Of if you want wet food, you won't get better value than pets at homes wainwrights, £8 for 12 trays and 70% meat. As opposed to pedigrees 4%.
Yumega oil might help his skin too.
As for the smells lol, it is probably food related. Crap food can cause it, as can god food if it doesn't suit your dog. Charcoal bones can help a lot.Sigless0 -
Haha!!
Oh my days! Mine doesn't pump much, but when she does, boy, does it smell!!!
She even gets up and moves away from the smell, its that back! :rotfl::oGetting married 23rd June 2012!!:o0 -

Please stay away from IAMS - it's nasty stuff, wellbeloved or wainwrights from pets at home would be my advice from experience or hills senstive. Some are better than others and it depends entirely on the dog.comping since august 2007, wins so far.....none! :rotfl:0
